Kirsty is the mum behind The Secret Screen Mum and has spent the last eight years supporting her daughter’s professional acting career across television, film and theatre, including productions such as Peaky Blinders, Phoenix Rise and the UK tour of Annie.

She knows firsthand what it means to be the parent of a working young actor. From the excitement of landing a role and life on set to the countless auditions, last minute self tapes, recalls, knockbacks and long periods of waiting for the next opportunity.

But it’s everything that happens away from the cameras that Kirsty understands just as well. Juggling school, friendships, family life and work, managing expectations, supporting your child through disappointment and knowing when to encourage them and when to take a step back.

Having learned so much about the industry from a parent’s perspective, Kirsty created The Secret Screen Mum to share the knowledge and experience she wishes she’d had when her daughter first started out.

Through her Acting 101 for Parents guide and Monologue Book, she provides practical resources to help families support their young performers. She also runs a dedicated membership community, where parents can access ongoing support, ask questions about their own child’s acting journey, learn from industry guests and benefit from a growing library of resources and recorded sessions.

Alongside this, Kirsty shares loads of free advice, industry insights and honest experiences through her social media accounts, helping parents better understand everything from agents and auditions to self tapes, casting and the realities of raising a young performer.
